Arugam Bay

OMG!!!! One beach is just as beautiful as the other!  We arrived at the Kothukal Beach House and were in awe of the views.  We were lucky enough to be the only guests there and had the entire home and beach all to ourselves.  We were welcomed with the usual tropical drinks and cool towels, but this time there was a resident dog to welcome us as well. Dan (the dog) was so excited to see us, as we were him because we have been missing our little fur baby (Jenkins) at home.  We had an enchanting evening on the beach, just strolling along the coastline.  We witnessed a beautiful sunset on the east coast of the island as our feet were immersed in the warm, clear waters of the Indian Ocean.
It was another OMG moment when we realized we had our own personal chef who resides at the house.  We put in our dinner order of Sri Lankan cuisine and the table was set and ready for us to enjoy a perfect dinner on the beach.
After dinner, Ramzi and I ventured out to enjoy the "nightlife" of Arugam Bay.  We were there in the midst of a surfing competition sponsored by Red Bull.  Arugam Bay is the surfing capital of the island, and the competition brought surfers from all over the globe.  It was a crazy night, so I decided to rename Arugam Bay to "Ganga Bay"!
The next morning we got up early to head to the waves to watch the surfers in action. SPECTACULAR! I forgot to bring my longer lens, and was upset that I couldn't get closer shots of the surfers.
We highly recommend this stop, while traveling along the coast, as it was one of our most favorable destinations.

look closely...there is a little boy in orange climbing a coconut tree.
